Homebrewed Live at Princeton Theological Seminary!
Harmut Rosa: The Church, The Pastor, and Resonance in an Accelerated Age
Hello Theology Nerds,
Next week, I am headed to Princeton Theological Seminary for a fantastic conference and live podcast. You don't have to be attending the conference to come to the podcast on Monday night. If you are in the area, I would love to see you!
The conference is called The Church, The Pastor, and Resonance in an Accelerated Age, where an impressive collection of theologians will be in conversation with one of the most prolific and influential living philosophers and sociologist, Hartmut Rosa.
Over the course of three days, noted theologians and scholars will engage Rosa’s work on the topics of acceleration and resonance in the modern world. Leading scholars in the fields of practical and systematic theology will speak at the conference such as Andrew Root, Mirsolav Volf, and Philip Ziegler.

Recently Dr. Andrew Root joined me on the podcast to discuss the big ideas at the heart of Rosa's work and why he is such a fertile conversation partner for faith leaders. You can check out our conversation here to get an idea of why I am so confident this will be a transformative event, and I am thrilled that anyone can join online to access all of it. Rosa's work has become an important conversation partner for me. Last week on Theology Nerd Throwdown, I talked with Bo about how I am metabolizing his thought through an open and relational theology.
This will be my first time at Princeton Theological Seminary, and this is the first year they are a partner for Theology Beer Camp!
In a recent podcast episode with Dr. Samuel Davidson, we announced the camp partnership. Dr. Davidson, a Postdoctoral Fellow for Digital Learning and Continuing Education, is developing a new initiative to bring continuing education online. His first series of seminars is titled "Christ, Creation, and the Church: Explorations in Ecotheology." You can get an idea about the class from our podcast.
In the episode, Samuel explores an ecological vision for the church through the integration of deep ecology and deep ecclesiology. The discussion highlights Davidson’s work on constructing an ecological theology that aligns Christian orthodoxy with modern environmental insights, aiming to evolve a theological understanding of the church in light of ecological interconnectedness. The conversation covers practical steps for congregations to engage in ecological renewal, including sustainable gardening practices such as planting native grasses to support local ecosystems.
